Seven MTR Railway Lines Enhance Non-Peak Hour Train Service
MTR Corporation has been monitoring the operations of the railway lines, patronage and passengers’ feedback, as well as making timely adjustments to train services to ensure service quality. The Corporation announced today (15 October 2020) that non-peak hour train service on seven railway lines (including the Tung Chung Line, Tuen Ma Line Phase 1, Kwun Tong Line, Tsuen Wan Line, Island Line, Tseung Kwan O Line and West Rail Line) will be enhanced in two phases starting from 19 October 2020 (Monday) to provide more convenience to passengers.
While the overall patronage of the railway network has dropped amid the pandemic, the Corporation maintains normal train service during peak hours. At the same time, non-peak hour train service has been adjusted according to the actual situation. In light of the resumption of classes, the Corporation stepped up the train frequency on various railway lines in mornings and around noon time on weekdays to provide greater convenience to students.
As part of the latest enhancement, train frequency on the Tung Chung Line and Tuen Ma Line Phase 1 during non-peak hours on weekdays and on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays will be stepped up. As for the Kwun Tong Line, Tsuen Wan Line, Island Line, Tseung Kwan O Line and West Rail Line, their train service on Saturdays will be enhanced. Please refer to the annex for details of the service enhancement.
The Corporation will continue to monitor closely the operations of railway lines, maintain sufficient carrying capacity to meet the passenger demand, and adjust train service when necessary. Please refer to the link below for the current overall train frequency on the MTR network:
