Dear DB residents,

Re: DB Crime Rates

The crime rate in Discovery Bay increased significantly in 2013, and is a matter of concern for all of us.

In response to my request, the Lantau Police District has kindly released the crime rates for the past 3 years.

During the past month, there have been a number of burglaries in stand-alone/semi-detached houses.

Despite the fact that Discovery Bay is a low density private residential area, with the commercial development in DB North and increasing functions in the Plaza we have all noticed a rise in the number of outside visitors in recent months.

During the District Council and Fight Crime Committee meetings, I have raised our concern about the increasing crime rates in the community. The police promised to deploy more resources to clamp down on burglaries and bicycle thefts. They will also strengthen patrols and publicity work to raise awareness.

Should you have any suggestions to improve our security and safety, please feel free to write or call me at any time.

I wish you a Happy and Safe Lunar New Year!

Yours sincerely

 Amy Yung

Islands District Council Member (Discovery Bay)
