During the District Council election last year, many DB residents asked me the voting procedures just one or two weeks before the election day. Only then did they realize that they were not eligible to cast a vote as they had not registered as voters. (中文在下)

Hong Kong Identity Card holders will not automatically become voters unless and until they register as one, which has to be done a few months before the election. If you unfortunately missed the District Council election last year, please note that the upcoming Legislative Council election will take place in September this year. Please register as a voter by 2 May.
