Dear DB residents,

Discovery Bay Transportation Services Company Limited (DBTSL or the ferry company) has applied to the Transport Department (TD) for early termination of the existing licence on 31 March 2020, and grant of a new ferry service licence of the “Central – Discovery Bay” ferry service for five years covering the period from 1 April 2020 to 31 March 2025 (both days inclusive).

Please click the following hyperlinks for the Information Note for Consultation and reply slip prepared by TD for your reference. The fares and schedules remain unchanged. Senior residents are entitled to the $2 concessionary fare supported by the government.

• Application for (i) Early Termination of Existing Ferry Service Licence; and (ii) Grant of New Ferry Service Licence “Central – Discovery Bay”

• Schedule of Service

• Statement of Purpose

Since DBTSL will receive public money to support its service I think it is worthwhile to press for greater transparency on ridership and revenue / operating results. Please indicate whether you support the new arrangement and write your comments, if any, then email to me at amy.yung.ay@gmail.com for consolidation to TD.

I have requested TD to extend the consultation period till 31 March 2020.

Thanks & regards,
Amy Yung
Islands District Council Member (Discovery Bay)
